ARE YOU THERE GOD? IT'S ME, MARGARET - THE MOVIE
In the Lionsgate adaptation for the big screen, 11-year-old Margaret (Abby Ryder Fortson) leaves her life in New York City behind and moves to the suburbs of New Jersey, where she experiences the messy and turbulent phases of adolescence with new friends at a new school. She is supported by her mother Barbara (Rachel McAdams), who is also finding it difficult to adjust to life outside of the city, and her devoted grandma Sylvia (Kathy Bates), who isn’t glad they moved away and likes to remind them whenever she can.
The movie also features Julie Ansell, Richard Sakai, Kelly Fremon Craig, Amy Lorraine Brooks, Aldric La’auli Porter, and executive producer Jonathan McCoy. The movie is based on the Judy Blume novel and also stars Benny Safdie (Licorice Pizza, Good Time), and it is written for the screen and directed by Kelly Fremon Craig (The Edge of Seventeen).
