These Chicken Parmesan Sliders are a tiny Italian treat that is loaded with flavor. Family-friendly, and easy to make. A double whammy!
CHICKEN PARMESAN SLIDERS RECIPE
It seems as though everyone has their favorite version of Chicken Parmesan. However, if they are cooking it right, they are pretty much all using the same ingredients. It just means that they are all claiming they are the best at cooking the same thing. I admire the confidence! So for consistency, I am going to plant my flag right now and state that I cook the best Chicken Parmesan Sliders. True story. And you can too! We can all be the best at it together.
WHAT IS CHICKEN PARMESAN?
Chicken Parmesan, aka Chicken parmigiana, is breaded chicken, covered in marinara sauce, and topped with mozzarella, parmesan, or provolone cheese. The breaded chicken is cooked by frying in oil, sometimes a combination method of frying, then baking in the oven. Chicken Parmigiana though Italian in flavors, is actually believed to have been a product of the United States after large amounts of immigrants came from Italy.
WHAT DO THESE EASY CHICKEN PARMESAN SLIDERS TASTE LIKE?
These Chicken Parmesan Sliders are a rich, juicy, meaty meal. The sauce is bright and flavorful and contrasts nicely with the breaded chicken and the softness of the cheese and slider rolls. The garlic butter topping is savory and loaded with Italian herbs, like parsley and oregano.
CHICKEN PARMESAN SLIDER INGREDIENTS
- 12 King’s Hawaiian Sweet Roll Slider Buns
- 1 pound breaded chicken tenders, sliced thinly
- Marinara sauce – 2 cups
- Shredded mozzarella cheese – 2 cups
- Shredded Parmesan cheese – 1/2 cup
- Melted butter – 3 tablespoons
- Garlic powder – 1 teaspoon
- Italian seasoning – 1 teaspoon
HOW TO MAKE CHICKEN PARMESAN SLIDERS WITH CHICKEN BREAST?
If you use a food processor, you can save a few minutes on slicing up the chicken tenders. You could use whole pieces of breaded chicken, but for consistency, I find that slicing them up works nicely.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F
- Coat a 9 x 11 casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Arrange the bottom half of the slider buns in the casserole dish.
- Place chopped chicken tenders on the buns, and then evenly the spoon marinara sauce on top of the chicken.
- In a small bowl, combine mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, and then sprinkle on top of marinara sauce.
- Place the top halves of the buns on top of the sandwiches.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in the microwave in 30-second intervals until thoroughly melted, mix in garlic powder until well combined.
- Brush the sliders with melted garlic butter, and then sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
- Cover with aluminum foil, and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil, and continue baking for another 10 minutes, or until Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses are thoroughly melted.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
CAN YOU MAKE CHICKEN PARMESAN SLIDERS AHEAD OF TIME?
You can prep all the ingredients and assemble the sandwiches. If you are going to heat them later in the day, then I would suggest covering them with aluminum foil to keep the bread from drying out.
CAN YOU FREEZE CHICKEN PARM SLIDERS?
As long as you cover them in an airtight container, to keep them from drying out in the freezer, then you can freeze these sliders. Cover them with a paper towel or paper napkin when you reheat them in the microwave, to prevent the rolls from hardening.
WHAT TO SERVE WITH CHICKEN PARMESAN SLIDERS?
