Now, I am not going to stand here and tell you that this is an authentic recipe handed down by a chef I met in China. It’s not. What I can tell you, is that this is an easy recipe with some common ingredients subbed in so you don’t need to go running out to the store. I think the spaghetti noodles will prove that point! Wait! WHAT IS LO MEIN ?
Lo mein is a Chinese-style dish of stir-fried noodles, vegetables, and sometimes meat. It is usually served with a sauce, such as soy sauce or oyster sauce.
WHAT DOES THIS VEGETABLE AND SHRIMP LO MEIN TASTE LIKE?
EASY SHRIMP LO MEIN INGREDIENTS
- Spaghetti, cooked and drained – 6 ounces
- Soy sauce – 1/2 cup
- Rice wine vinegar – 2 tablespoons
- Honey – 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil – 2 teaspoons
- Garlic powder – 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground ginger – 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil – 1 tablespoon
- Broccoli florets – 2 cups
- Shredded carrots – 1 cup
- Red bell pepper, cut into strips –
- Shrimp, tails off, peeled, and deveined – 1.5 pounds
- Green onion, sliced – 1
- Sesame seeds – 1 tablespoon
HOW TO MAKE THIS EASY SEAFOOD LO MEIN RECIPE
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, garlic powder, and ground ginger.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add carrots, peppers, and broccoli and cook until tender, approximately 7 minutes.
- Remove vegetables from the pan and pour in the prepared sauce and bring to a simmer.
- When the sauce has slightly thickened, add shrimp and cook until pink.
- Add vegetables and pasta to skillet and toss with sauce and shrimp, covering evenly.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot and enjoy!
