HOMEMADE CLASSIC RANCH SPICE BLEND RECIPE
WHAT IS RANCH SPICE MIX?
Ranch seasoning is first of all the basis for homemade Ranch Dressing. Around 1949, Steve Henson, a plumber from Alaska invented the creamy salad dressing and began serving it to his coworkers. A few years later, he and his wife moved to California and bought a ranch: Hidden Valley Ranch. See where we are going with this? Well, after a couple of decades perfecting and manufacturing the blend, they cashed out and sold it to Clorox. Bravo, Steve Henson! My Buffalo Chicken Sliders thank you.
WHAT DOES THIS HOMEMADE RANCH SEASONING TASTE LIKE?
Ranch dressing seasoning is tangy and milky. Don’t let that description scare you off. It is delicious when added to comfort food recipes. I have even sprinkled some of it over popcorn to give it an herbaceous kick.
Absolutely! I like to have a jar of this ranch seasoning and all sorts of homemade spices on hand for whenever the craving strikes.
As a rule of thumb, when making spice blends: the earliest expiration date on your ingredients is now the new expiration date for your homemade ranch dressing seasoning.
CAN YOU FREEZE THIS RANCH SPICE BLEND?
Though it is not necessary to freeze this ranch seasoning blend, you can store it in the freezer. If you do, make sure it is an airtight, freezer-safe container to keep the original flavors fresh.
WHAT TO SERVE USING RANCH SEASONING?
This “Firecrackers Recipe” from Hill Country Cravings first of all. Instagram was kind enough to throw this recipe in my reels feed, and by the same afternoon, I had a gallon-sized bag of these prepped. Need some other uses for ranch seasoning? Check out these recipes:
