These delicious little Cuban Sliders are big on flavor. Layered with pork, cheese, pickles, and mustard on a little King’s Hawaiian Roll. Yum!

CUBAN SLIDERS RECIPE

Cuba boasts some pretty epic exports. Jose Canseco, sugar cane, cigars, mojitos, and Gloria Estefan. One more? The Cubano, or Cuban Sandwich. This awesome sandwich is stacked with ham, pickles and melted cheese. The slider version of this sandwich, though small, packs a similar flavorful punch. Cuban Sliders are perfect for a summer block party, or to pack a few and take for lunch at the office…just leave the mojito at home.

WHAT IS A CUBAN SANDWICH?

The traditional Cuban sandwich is a grilled cheese with pickles, ham, and sometimes shredded pork. It was very common in South Florida among the Cuban population, and then eventually gained popularity around the country as people sought out a variation of the standard grilled cheese sandwich. A Cuban Slider is similar however instead of grilled like a panini, it is baked, and this recipe does not include the shredded pork.

WHAT DOES A CUBAN SLIDER TASTE LIKE?

These Cubano sliders are delicious. They are just like a normal Cuban sandwich, just in a conveniently small serving. There is a tangy tartness from the pickle slices, combined with the spicy mustard, and savory ham and cheese. If you love these flavors, then you will surely love this little sandwich.

CUBAN SLIDER INGREDIENTS

HOW TO MAKE THIS CUBAN SLIDER RECIPE

Layering sandwich ingredients, brushing on some mustard, and baking in the oven. This is an extremely user-friendly recipe!

  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Cut Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally, and arrange the bottom halves in a 9 x 13 nonstick baking pan.
  3. On top of the bread, even though you guys are all of the ham slices, Swiss cheese slices, and dill pickle slices. Place the top half of the rolls on each sandwich.
  4. In a microwave, in 30-second bursts, melt butter. Once butter is melted, stir in onion powder and Dijon mustard. Brush mustard butter mixture across the top of the slider buns.
  5. Covered with tinfoil and bake in the oven for 10 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 10 minutes, or until slider buns are golden brown and cheese is melted.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy.

CAN YOU MAKE CUBAN SLIDERS AHEAD OF TIME?

You can prepare this recipe earlier in the day if you plan on bringing this to a party or serving it as part of a buffet spread for a gameday event.

CAN YOU FREEZE CUBAN SANDWICHES?

No, I wouldn’t freeze these Cuban Sliders. Reheating slider rolls and sliced pickles might not have a desirable outcome.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH CUBAN SLIDERS?

These sliders are great on their own, or as part of a larger spread, especially if you bring them to a tailgate party on game day. Looking for more slider recipes to add to the menu? Check these out:
